Milsbo Latch Extension

This is a simple latch slot extension for the IKEA Milsbo cabinet. It is intended to be used as a “secure” method of propping open the door for ventilation of a greenhouse conversion project.

The Milsbo is excellent for greenhouse conversion. The glass has a very good seal and the doors are constructed in such a way as to provide great surfaces for weatherstripping. Finally, the center gap between the doors can be sealed using a self-adhesive silicone flap made for this purpose.

However, a properly sealed greenhouse can quickly become too humid. On the one had, this is desired, since heat and humidity retention (as well as artificial light) is the whole point of the greenhouse conversion. Yet, it can be helpful to allow periodic venting to keep cyclical humidity under control.

Propping the door open a bit with something works fine, but prying paws can lead to a kitty hazard for your plants. This simple solutions allows you to hang an extension on the latch slot that provides a few a
