Isn't it funny how some events can set things in motion? My Bambu AMS desiccant was all used up, so I decided to order some silica gel pearls that change color when they've done their job. I installed them and everything, but I still had a bunch left over. So, I had an idea - what if I replaced the silica gel that comes packed in the spools?
I did some searching for models that would work for me, but most of them are designed to hold a lot of desiccant, which is just a waste for me. As I'm mostly a PLA user, I don't require a large volume of silica gel, and I always seal my bags when I store them, which limits the moisture that can get in. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and make my own desiccant container.
The goals were simple, then they got more complicated…:
- Functional :)
- Easy to use
- Small volume, comparable with the silica bags that come with the spool
- Use little filament, use filament leftovers
- Fast print
- Easy print
- To be able t
