This spool holder contains the following qualities:
Stability: The spool doesn't derail or fall over.
Flexibility: It can bend so it adapt to any irregularities you might have in your table or wherever you place it on.
Strength: You can stand on it without breaking it (don't jump on it).
Simplicity: You just need 2 parts to support your spool, obviously fully printable.
Economy: The design is minimalistic, saving filament and time.
You don't need any bearings or other stuff to let your spool roll with little resistance. The plastic creates very little resistance with the plastic of the spool and the extruder can easily pull the spool around.
