I wanted to keep our outdoor shoes off the ground and oriented so that, hopefully, fewer things would end up inside them (cobwebs, leaves, spiders). This is the bare minimum that accomplishes that task. Anyone can build a bridge that stands up, but it takes an engineer to build a bridge that will just barely stand up. I am not an engineer, but I think this is a hook that just barely holds my shoes.
The tolerances between the cleat and the hook could be tighter, probably. The hook itself could be, perhaps, larger. It fits the cleat well enough and (barely) serves our purposes as is, though, so I declared the design "finished". I have included .step files for anyone who wants to play with this and make changes or improvements.
The cleat is designed to accept a #6 pan head screw, which translates to a 3.5mm pan head screw in the civilised world. The hole is sized such that the threads of the screw will catch it. For good strength on the cleat, I recommend 3 perimeters and a h
