When outsiders claimed the wetlands, they burned the reeds, poisoned the waters, and buried the dead without rite or care—leaving the spirits trapped, restless, and furious. Mirex was left chained in the mire, slowly sinking as corpses bloated and whispered around him. In that suffocating darkness, something answered his desperation—not a god, but the swamp itself.
