This modular hat rack uses 1/2 conduit as the rails. The rail-ends are press fit onto the conduit and shouldn't require glue. For my rack, I used 24" wide rails spaced 10" apart from one another vertically, on-center. I used some coarse thread screws to attach it to the wall. Only two per rail are necessary unless it's much longer than 24".
