Motorized version of Matthew's printable wool winder. Thank you for doing most of the work on the design! A few points:
- I used PU belt tubing instead of O-rings. Easy to customize the diameter of the belt and cheap.
Video guide I used to easily and cheaply join PU tubing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMqMYwPw2Cc
Even with a bad joining on my first attempt, I could not break the joint apart! Impressive.
Tubing I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S7W36WB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
- Gearing is a little reduced (takes about 2 rotations of the motor to rotate the spindle once)
- Spindle will cause the unit to wobble considerably at high RPM. I put rubber feet on it which solves the problem at low revs (about the same speed as hand winding). At blazing revs, it will need to be mounted to a surface. Counter weights help slightly.
- Even though Matthew has a yarn guide stl file, I highly highly recommend either bending a wire into the
