Multipurpose 160mm Modular Spool
This is a custom-designed, 3D-printed modular spool with a 160mm diameter. The design is clean and functional, with lightweight flanges featuring oval cutouts for weight reduction and easy gripping.
Construction
The exploded view shows the layered assembly clearly — flanges sandwich the core hub components, all held together as a unit. The cylindrical pin on the side acts as a line anchor or winding peg, not a brake. The spool runs completely free.
The Center Ring Extension
The key feature is the optional center ring that slots between the two flanges, dividing the spool into two independent winding chambers. This allows two separate lines, cables or antennas to be wound side by side without tangling or interfering with each other.
Use Cases
Kite flying — two independent control lines
Ham radio / SOTA / POTA — feedline and antenna wire on the same spool but completely separate
Sailing / outdoor — any application requiring two independent lines
