Nach dem Bade

This model was derived from a scan of a small plaster sculpture ("Nach dem Bade" - after the bath) by Swiss artist Hans Hippele (1904 - 1942). It was printed in various sizes and colors during the 2013 series of events "Re:Public Domain".

"Re:Public Domain" was initiated by Dock18 Institut für Medienkulturen der Welt, Zurich. The project aims to remind us that, 70 years after an artist's death, all copyright and other intellectual property rights in relation to his art belong to the public who may re-interpret and "remix" it.

This work, contributed to the event by FabLab Zürich, exemplifies how this right may be exercised in sculptural art using modern 3D scanning and printing techniques. Other artistic domains such as music, literature or cinematic art were also covered in "Re:Public Domain".
