I offered a surface nesting drain strainer that had some negatives. So, I came up with this one that solved those problems. But, it may or may not fit your drain. You may have to modify the overall diameter, which should be pretty easy to do depending on your 3D STL creation program.
The basic problem is one I have noticed with even commercial surface nesting drain strainers. They have a perpetual wet area which is due to water caught between the under side of the strainer and the surface of the sink. This is a perfect breeding ground for bacterial growth, which manifested itself with my first strainer. So, I improved it by designing the strainer to sit down in the sink drain itself. The holes are calculated for easily draining away maximum flow from my faucet, which is about 1.5 gallons/minute (~ 5.7 liters/min). But, you may notice the middle hole is a bit larger. It is that way to fit my finger for lifting it out. So far, about 70 days of use and no smell, no bacteria and has h
