Obelix Siege Mortar

The Obelix is a rare sight in Krevarian formations, brought to the frontlines when fortifications are too sturdy for lesser guns and the use of larger units like the Gnom are impractical. Based on the sturdy chassis of the Kli-San battle tank, these self-propelled guns rearrange the crew and mechanical layout of the vehicle to make room for a large open fighting compartment at the rear. This new space is filled with a huge siege mortar, built for firing superheavy shells designed to be especially effective at breaking apart fortifications.  While the Obilex does have an automatic shell lift and rammer, it has no room for onboard ammunition, and so it is always accompanied by an entourage of armored shell carriers. A recoil spade helps deal with the immense forces involved in firing the main weapon, but every Obelix has a fairly short service life, as fasteners and seals are subject to immense strain during every firing.
