Old Fiat 500 Keychain Fiat 500 key ring, easy to print and removable supports with extreme ease (watch the video) STORY: On July 1, 1957, the "Nuova 500" was previewed to Prime Minister Adone Zoli, in the gardens of the Viminale. On July 2, the car was presented at the Sporting club in Turin, a traditional setting in which FIAT formalized its new products at the time; the gala evening was hosted by the company elite, composed of President Vittorio Valletta, Vice Presidents Giovanni Agnelli and Gaudenzio Bono, Press Office Manager Luigi Pestelli, as well as various managers and technicians. Waiting for the authorities, journalists and various personalities, about fifty examples of the new model, all gray and accompanied by mechanics in white overalls, lined up by the pool and ready for a test drive. Among the many who wanted to try their hand at driving the "Nuova 500", there was also Formula 1 champion Nino Farina. The name Nuova 500 was chosen to underline its lineage and commonality with the 500 "Topolino", as the lowest-cost car in the FIAT range, set at 490,000 lire, equal to about 13 salaries of a worker. The set-up of this first series was truly spartan even for the time, and above all it lacked the chrome plating, so loved by Italians in those years. The wheel rims, in cream-yellow sheet metal, fixed with four visible bolts, had been specially designed to exclude the need to use wheel caps, which among other things mounted 12-inch tires, never produced until then. The headlight and indicator switches on the steering column were also missing, the lights were controlled entirely with the Bosch ignition key with six positions (side lights only, neutral, gear with lights off, gear with positions, gear with dipped beams, gear with high beams), the indicators with a transparent lever that incorporated the operating light positioned in the centre of the dashboard just above the key.
