These modules are a means of constructing lightweight, ventilated containers or other structures using basketweave or rectangular mesh. The use of open panels provides some utility to consider:
- allows for drainage or ventilation
- requires minimal material
- prints quickly with minimal retractions
- offers good stiffness and strength for the same material usage
Compared to other ways of handling perforation, they're a good balance of speed, strength, stiffness, and printability for the minimal material usage.
The original motivation was to create ventilated dessicant containers (see https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6556858), but I have come to consider these tools useful for creating things such as boxes, trays, organizers, and minimal-cost temporary items.
The grid/mesh panels are intended only for use on surfaces which are printed horizontally on the bed. While it's possible to use them on short inclined spans, you can expect a messy print. Using these for vertical wal
