This OpenSCAD program generates toruses and places them at the vertexes of a deodecahedron, and then rotates them so they are aligned with the normals of the vertexes.
In this way a dodecahedron of toruses can be made. The parameters of the toruses can be changed so that they can be triangles, squares, pentagons, hexagons, etc. Also the thickness of the toruses and their diameters are adjustable. The program also subtracts a cyclinder from the base of the dodecaahedron so it can be easily printed on a 3D printer.
The toruses could also be replaced with any other object by simple modification of the code.
My inspiration for this is the spherical chainlink knot (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2593855). I printed this and wondered if it could be made with the links not locked to each other, and so this program was the first step in trying to mathematically reproduce the chainlink sphere in an editable parametric format.
