This is a model to help students understand the concept of optical isomers. When a carbon atom has four different groups attached to it, there are two possible ways for the groups to be arranged around it. The two possibilities will be mirror images of each other, but they are not superposable.
It is very difficult for a teacher to draw this structures on a board. A computer software can be used to rotate the molecules, but having a physical model to manipulate can help students visualize the concept.
I also added a base on which the model can be placed and rotated. You can place one of the models in front of a mirror and see the other isomer reflected there.
