I didn't like the stock lamp mount, especially that you assemble the lamp simply by sliding the "shaft" into really loose hole in the mount without any additional secure. I can imagine situation when I smash the lamp by accident, shaft slips out of the base and lamp falls on my desk, damaging something. So I decided to deisgn a more reliable mount.
To assemble everything you will need:
- 6 pcs. 2,9 mm x 16 mm self tapping screws
- 1 pcs. M4 x 15 pan head screw
- some thick grease (not necessary, but highly recommended. Without grease parts will be squeaking during movement)
Assembly is pretty simple:
- put everything together using self tapping screws. You might want to add some grease on the "rotating part".
- slide the lamp shaft into hole in "rotating part". (Please keep in mind that the lamp is made by sheet metal bending, so its dimensional accuracy is far from perfect. You might need a little whack with a mallet to connect the mount with lamp shaft properly).
