Para-xylene (p-xylene) is an aromatic hydrocarbon, one of three isomers of dimethylbenzene, with the chemical formula C₈H₁₀. In its structure, two methyl groups are attached to the benzene ring at diametrically opposite positions. This colorless, highly flammable liquid is a major industrial chemical extracted from the BTX aromatics (benzene, toluene, and xylenes) during petroleum refining. Its most significant application is as a chemical feedstock for the production of terephthalic acid (TPA) and dimethyl terephthalate (DMT). These, in turn, are used to manufacture polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a plastic widely used for beverage bottles, and polyester fibers for textiles. It will make the broken part even stronger.I decided to go with the ball-and-stick type, as it is easiest to color, is rigid, and looks awesome.Th
