Parametric Bamboo Trellis Joint

This script uses the customizer to create joints for a bamboo garden trellis or plant cage
from bamboo. While the customizer in Tinkercad is slow and sometimes unreliable, Customizer is now included in OpenScad, and is quick, easy and reliable. Even if you've never used OpenScad, give it a try.

You can create polygonal plant cages with any number of sides from 3 to 10. Pentagonal and hexagonal cages appear to offer the best compromise of cage volume to print time.

Because the longer pieces of bamboo typically used for the vertical parts of the trellis tend to be larger in diameter than the shorter bamboo used for the horizontal parts, The horizontal and vertical parts of the joint can be independently tailored to match the diameter of the bamboo on hand.
