All my racks in my electronics lab are metal racks (steel plate). As I didn't feel like drilling holes in those racks I decided to remix the cablecomb to glue neodimium magnets (aka strong magnets) in it.

I ordered some 2 x 5 x 3 mm neodium magnets and glued them in with 2 components glue.

Please find the small comb with spaces to fit 3 magnets and a wide comb with spaces to fit 5 magnets. The small comb has 7 teeth, the wide comb 13.

Works out nice for the time being but the baring load is less than when srewed or using the remix with pegs I guess. FYI, I firstly tried using adhesive magnetic ribbon but it hardly can hold any weight then...

Alternative would be to drill pilot holes in the steel plating anyway and use some self tapping srews or such...
