I printed the “Shutter Box - Heart” by 3D printy and was quite impressed by the shutter mechanism , so I thought of trying it out myself.
I didnt realize at the moment that they had already posted a pencil box as well.
I designed this pencil box with heavy inspiration from the shutter , and tagging their pencil box as a design inspiration although both designs don't have much in common.
The pencil box has 2 components, box and shutter. You will have to print 2 copies of the box and sandwich the shutter in between, and glue the overlapping parts of the box. These will not snap fit and there is not much issue of tolerances either , so it should work for almost anyone.
Although its recommended to use flexible PETG for the shutter, mine is printed in PLA and works pretty well.
The shutter should take about 20 -25 minutes to print and the box will take about 3-4 hours depending on the print setting.
No supports are needed, use infill as per your preference , more top b
