Pferdeapfel: This is the standard German term. It translates literally to "horse apple" and is considered a polite or family-friendly way to say horse dung. Pferdeäppel: This is a dialectal or colloquial variation, particularly common in Central and Northern German dialects where "Apfel" becomes "Appel". Pferdeäppel is also the name of a tactical two-player board game where players move horse tokens similarly to knights in chess, leaving "droppings" behind to block their opponent. This is a game that I found online, that can be played with paper and pen. I wanted to see if I could create a board game out of it to play with my family.
