I realy liked the idea of the gameframe from ledseq, so i created my own DIY Version.
It is based on an esp32 microcontroller and an 16x16 WS2812 LED Matrix.
I also made it compatible with the origial animations of the gameframe, which you can buy directly from ledseq (https://ledseq.com/product/game-frame-sd-files/)

required Electronics for this project:
-Microcontroller with enough ram like an esp32. esp 8266 should probably also work.
-16x16 WS2812 LED MAtrix
-SD-card module and SD-card to store the animations
optional electronics for additional features:
-three mini clickswitches for switching between modes, skipping animations etc.
-DS3231 real time clock for using the matrix in clock mode
-KY-018 optical resistance ambient light sensor for automatic brightness controll
-DS18B20 digital temperature sensor for showing the ambient
