I built a portable fume extractor powered by an embedded 18650 battery. The battery is rechargeable via a USB port, and the extractor is turned on using a small switch. The circuitry is quite simple: the battery cell is connected to a charger module (I salvaged mine, along with the 18650 battery, from an old power bank). The fan is connected to the output of the charger, which boosts the battery’s 3.7V to 5V to meet the requirements of the Noctua fan. A carbon filter is placed over the fan to effectively filter out toxic fumes generated by soldering iron and tin.
