Portable Workstation

This project began as a need for a protable workstation with a magnifying glass and light. The resulting project turned out to be moderately complex and not recommended for neophoytes. I initially chose a 100mm lens with 3X magnification, which proved to be unsatisfactory. Next, I chose a 10X lens which works well but is very heavy. I found that no amount of friction at the expansions joints would hold this lens up. So, I added props to the expansion leg joints which work very well. Since I often work on PC boards, I added a vice to hold pc boards which may also be used with other small items. All parts were constructed with PETG filament, used for its strength and flexibilty. Printer settings were 3 top, bottom and wall layers with 30% infill. Critical to the success of this project are the friction washers (see Construction Notes).
