This is my custom-built drill press, designed for hobbyists and makers who want a powerful yet affordable tool for their workshop. The project started after I came across a video of a similar design. I was so fascinated that I decided to reverse-engineer the concept and improve it to fit my own needs. The drill press is powered by a DC motor with adjustable speed control, driving the chuck through a belt and pulley system. The head runs smoothly along V-slot aluminum extrusion with wheels and bearings, ensuring precision and stability. A spring mechanism keeps the drill head balanced, so it feels natural and easy to operate. What makes this project exciting is that it combines low-cost, off-the-shelf parts with 3D-printed components, making it accessible to anyone who wants to try it out.
