If you haven't tried Octopi you should... It's an amazing project - kudos to the authors - and it works really well with my Printrbot SImple Metal.

That said, as soon as I got things to work it became clear that positioning the Raspberry PI and the camera would be a pain. So I decide to print a holder to make sure the gizmo always stays in the right position, specially when printing. I ended up opting for a holder that attaches to the back of the printer, and extends to the left to connect to a Raspberry Pi case - for this project, I used a LEGO compatible SmartiPi case.

For extra support, you can fix the holder to the back of the printer using the existing metal screw.
