This version of the Proteus slope-soarer has changes to the sweep, washout, fins and elevon hinges, to improve the flying characteristics.
In particular, increasing the leading edge sweep from 22 to 26 degrees has greatly reduced the likelihood of spinning out at the top of loops.
Increasing the sweep also results in the CG moving backwards, so no lead nose-weight is needed now (using 4 AAA NiMH cells) and it still flies well with the CG 5mm to the rear of the dimples on the fuselage.
Washout has been reduced to 2 degrees, down from 3.5.
Slots have been added to the elevons to allow hinging using 0.3 mm CA sheet such as:
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/ca-hinge-sheet-180mmx140mmx0-3mm.html
This results in easier elevon attachment and eliminates the trim changes that can result when using hinging tape alone.
Each hinge should be cut to a 14 x 27 mm rectangle. I don't bother gluing the CA sheet into the wing or elevon. I just insert the hinges then apply a single layer of hin
