WORK IN PROGRESS
A classic project, upgrading the Proxxon MF70 from manual to CNC.
This is my second upgrade of the MF70, I started with one of the bolt on conversion kits, it does the job, but it still relies on the soft end plates and the stepper motor is left hanging somewhat dangling.
I was about to print the classic bubblegum conversion kit, when I dedided to draw my own based on that conversion, this is as much a learning process for me, getting to be friends with CAD (Fusion 360) and 3D printing, afterwards moving on to basic CNC milling.
I am using axial bearings F6-14M (6x14x5mm) and have decided to drop the manual scale on the handles and go all in (CNC) on this conversion. I still have the handles at the end of the steppers, so a bit manual milling is still doable.
The switches for the endstops have been incorporated in the housings, and finally I am trying to extend the Y axis from ~46mm to ~70 mm and have the mill live up to its name :-)
Beware that there
