A quadcopter is a type of mini helicopter with 4 rotors fixed at each end of the vehicle frame. Each rotor generates lift and torque about its centre of rotation as well as drag in the opposite direction of the flight of vehicle. Commonly two of the rotors rotate clockwise and other two rotate anticlockwise. The motion control completely depends on the speed of the rotors as each rotor can vary its speed and torque independent of the other rotors. Applications: Quadcopters are used in various fields due to their mechanical simplicity such as: • Aerial Photography • Cargo Delivery • Agricultural sectors I designed the following model in SolidWorks. Tools used: • Lofted base/boss • Revolved base/boss • Extruded base/boss • Shell • Surface • Mates Animation software: SolidWorks using Motor and Rotation features
