No one could say for sure whether the Quarantasetti has ever been human at all. Some speculate she is the product of a failed experiment, a pilgrim turned into something more than human through holy blessings. Others believe she is the manifestation of a divine will, a being chosen to carry out an ancient judgment upon a world gone mad with violence, greed, and malice. But one truth remains clear, when the Quarantasetti arrives, the battle ends, one way or another. When it does, the smoke clears, and the land is scorched with the remnants of holy fire, a smoking crater of retribution. She is the Forty-Seventh Martyr, and the judgment of God follows in her wake.
