Design Goal:This project aims to create an axis-lock folding knife with minimal parts, ultra-fast printing, and dead-simple assembly. You’ll get a functional tool quickly—plus interchangeable 3D-printed blunt training bladesand a comb variant! After simplifying the design, some trade-offs emerged. Here’s the breakdown:Advantages:•Super fast print & assembly: Prints in under 1 hour; assembles in 1 minute—no tools or glue needed.•Easy operation: The unlock button works smoothly, even with gloves on.Disadvantages:•Reduced structural strength: The locking mechanism is reliable, but stress isn’t evenly distributed to the handle. The 3D-printed locking plunger lacks rigidity, affecting stability and long-term durability when locked.•Spring limitations: Shorter springs endure higher stress and wear faster than in complex designs. However, the structure tolerates some spring fatigue, and replacing springs is easy. Tested over 100+ openings/closings with zero failures—but it’s still less durable
