My friend is working on his dream of building a very fast personal airplane. His goal is 200+mph, so I designed him a suitable propeller. This propeller is designed for a max speed of 220mph. How do I know? Well, it is designed to turn at 2700 RPM, and with a diameter of 68 inches and a pitch of 93 (very aggressive). Because of the pitch, a longer runway than one might think would be needed due to low efficiency at 0 to 60 mph. It will also require quite a lot of power, about 196 hp. He's planning on using a 4 cylinder aircraft engine that should produce around 200 hp, so we're good there. Static thrust is only 308 pounds, but it doesn't drop in earnest until about 200mph, so I think this will suit his goals. I just finished building my CNC machine, so I may actually build this. If I do, I'll post the final product. If he flies it, I'll post his crash- I mean, I'll post the results. :D
