Hi Internet Sim Racers!
Christmas is here, I'd managed to escape the kids for an hour and whipped up something I'd wanted to do for ... well, since last christmas....
LED Mini Torches are perfect for conversion to a smart looking Shift Light for your dirty sim racing habit!!
I got mine from Officeworks in Australia for $2.99AUD... Conveniently, the internal profile is large enough to fit a arduino pro micro (My favorite!).
So I decided to use a small pipe and hammer to punch out from the inside the original LED array. There is an aluminium step its pressed into see... so pull the battery out, push something solid in, and WHACK it with a hammer. It should pop right out!
Now, my models are designed to fit directly into the empty barrel. The lense is ~23.5mm which depending on your printer accuracy is close enough to wedge in nicely. The main body will push into the bottom of the lense with a little super glue to keep it in place with the lense.
I hot glued my RGB WB2812
