I was tired of looking for 5v powersupplies with enough power for using with raspberry pi. I was also tired of using this shitty micro usb plug.
So I created a new raspberry pi case with integrated cooling fan and step down converter.
Now it is no problem to power the pi, a fan, some leds and all the pheripheral gadgets you want to use.
I use an 12v 1.5A power supply and a lm2596 step down converter to power the pi.
These step down converters are usable up to 3 Amps but then you have to use a heatsink.
Or you use the XL4015 Step down converter. They can be used up to 4.5A.
So it is no problem to overclock the pi.
To built this case you´ll need a 3d Printer, filament, m3 x 6mm screws and m3 nuts to mount the pi and the step down converter and m3 x 16mm screws to mount the fan and the top of the case.
I use in the prototype case a 40mm fan with integrated blue leds. In the second case I use a silenced 40mm fan and two pieces of led strip, glued beside the fan.
Both versions loo
