Rat Busy Box

This is an enrichment toy for small rodents like rats, mice, hamsters, and gerbils. You fill it up with puffed rice cereal like rice krispies and your pet has to work to get the food. The busy box mimics the natural foraging behavior of rodents in the wild.
The board has multiple screw holes so it can be hung from a cage, or screwed to a heavier surface to prevent flipping.

The box has holes for #6 wood screws. I used two, 3/4 inch #6 screws to attach the box to a piece of wood. I used a 100mm scrap section of 2x4 for the base. The wood elevates the box a bit so the rats have to stand. The wood also gives the whole thing weight so the rats can't drag it off or flip it.
