A good option for rolling off the bass. In a special Hot Rod package. Perfect for showing off your pricy audio-grade caps. In my case a 0.68uF Jantzen Audio Superior Z-cap 800vdc +/-2%.
The idea is that by putting in a high-pass filter, the amp is relieved from driving the monitors with low frequency sound. Frequencies which the monitors (Focal Chorus 806V) can't play anyway. Normally, these low frequencies suck lots of power from the amp. Full range signal is being put through unfiltered to the LFE input of my Rel subwoofer.
The preferred way to connect a REL sub is via the hi-level speakon connection. But that is not possible anymore bc it uses the speaker outputs of the amp. Which is fed the high pass signal from the RCA splitter.
There are two versions, a single box and a duo 'hot rod' box, where the caps are being put on display. Both versions have three pairs of holes. One pair for RCA inputs and the other two pairs for outputs (one full range and the other one capped).
