Red Hat and Bow

This was made for my old lady who is in the Red Hats. After printing, a pin back was glued to the hat so she can wear it on her outfit (costume as I call it).

I can already hear the question. What the heck does a Christmas Tree have to do with a Red Hat Ladies pin? Nothing much. But, I did use the base of the tree as a starting point for the hat so its only fair to list the tree as a source.

The bow from the package should be fairly obvious in its use.

Cardinal not included (sorry, only photo I had of the completed hat).

I printed the hat with the Red Crystal Series PLA that came with the December GeekBox and the ribbon from MakerGeek's Purple ABS.

Be sure to print the PLA hot and slow to get the maximum translucency out of it.

Pay attention to the bow orientation on the build platform. There is a taper on one inside edge that fits the curve of the hat. If you print it upside down (ie taper down) you won't get a nice fit. Also by printing it with the taper up,
