Replicator 2X Filament Dust Filter

Dust can settle on your filament rolls and potentially end up clogging your nozzles. This is a filament dust filter specifically for the Makerbot Replicator 2X and unlike others does not take up space on the extruders. The filter blocks have been specially designed in that they can be removed for cleaning without unloading the filament. They are also designed so they cannot "accidently" work loose from the filament.

The tube support assembly clips together with a press fit and then slots securely into the Rep2X tube supports. You can see a render of the assembly at http://youtu.be/t04y_zX4_pE&autoplay=1. All the parts can be printed without supports. Parts susceptable to warping have tear-off flanges that minimise this possibility.

Use a sponge material in the filter blocks that is elastic when dry; a 2cm cube is perfect. Slit it down the middle about 80% of the way through and pop it in slit outwards. Flexed filament will then drop right in and "lock" itself into the middle.
