Retractable Baby Gate Hook

Our baby started crawling and I went to put up the baby gate at the bottom of the stairs and didn't have a way to attach the provided hook to the railing. This will just snap around the upright and is sturdy. I pulled on it pretty good and it didn't budge. The inside dimensions are 39x39 mm. Height is 40 mm to match the provided hooks. Our baby won't ever be by this unattended so I am not worried about it's strength. I don't know how it would do with a toddler trying to climb over….
