Why does a mobile phone charging platform need to be static? Why can’t it interact with the user? Use sound, light and movement to express emotions… Why can’t it even be an extension of your mobile, and be your companion, your robotic pet with whom you can play? This is what I propose with my design, the Robotic Mobile Charging Dock. A Charging Dock that is also a robot, capable of moving in your table, or follow your face while you make a video phone call. It can also interact and play with you through specific apps, express emotions, play music, read messages, be remotely controlled via Bluetooth by phone or pc, take pictures of a group of people during a meeting or a dinner party, while uploading everything in real time to your social network, etc… The possibilities are endless! Its design was inspired by the Segway design and its concept by the SONY AIBO pet robot. Using its two wheels and the phone's integrated gyro, it always stays vertical, while being able to move backward and forward and rotate on its axis. The power cable can be removed to allow more freedom of movement or be inserted to help restrict this same freedom… It can have the possibility to project a virtual laser keyboard so the user could interact with the robot and write messages without touching the balancing platform. It can come in a wide variety of colors, to match your mobile phone’s color, and be compatible with multiple phone models, recognizing different users and adopting different behaviors according to each user. The body could be made of plastic or aluminum for increased resistance, and include only two servos, one Bluetooth receiver, some small sensors, the laser keyboard module, two small speakers and one control unit, so it should be fairly simple and cheap to produce. A robotic mobile phone docking station would be something that would delight people of all ages and interests! I work in the field of robotics and I am aware of the people’s increasing interest in this kind of app
