Several variants of the Rodela halftrack have been produced, attempting to put the sturdy chassis to use in a variety of roles. The first major variant to be produced was a fully-enclosed hardtop transport. Sacrificing easy access to external and pintle weaponry, the TA/H-3(B) is often used for armored reconnaissance troops or in an ambulance role. The roomy interior and high ceiling make it useful for holding extra equipment. Quickly following on after the gun carrier entered service, the TA/H-3(C) sacrifices transport room for a full turret. This version is often used by cavalry troops or when more heavily-armed reconnaissance is called for. Several sub-variants of this type exist, most notably the AL/H-3, which sacrifices troop capacity for fuel tanks and a heavy flamethrower in the main turret.
