My Roku 3 was occasionally overheating and then locking up, requiring a reboot. This stand holds the Roku vertically which allows the waste heat generated near the bottom of the unit to dissipate more easily via increase exposure to ambient airflow. I added some holes to reduce filament usage (and it's possible this helps with airflow, but I'm not sure).

Been in operation for about 3 weeks now, and so far no lockups of the Roku.
