ROLLER SUPPORT

A roller support is a type of structural support that allows movement in one direction while restricting movement perpendicular to the surface. It provides only a vertical reaction force, making it ideal for structures needing horizontal expansion or contraction, such as bridges. Roller supports prevent vertical displacement but allow horizontal translation. They do not resist moment or horizontal force. These supports are commonly used where thermal or structural flexibility is required.
