Roman Dodecahedron

I saw this in a news article and was fascinated by the shape. Seems no one is sure what it was used for. Look it up see if you can figure out it's use.

A Roman dodecahedron is a small hollow object made of bronze or stone, with a dodecahedral shape: twelve flat pentagonal faces, each face having a circular hole of varying diameter in the middle, the holes connecting to the hollow center.
