Very strong and cheap flying bases for minis. These are designed for smooth shank 11-gauge nails of whatever length you want. these are the short ones I'm using and are $3.50 for ~200 nails:

Heat the roofing nail head and press into the center. Melted plastic should press up and over the nail to really hold it in. Check that the nail is perpendicular in both axis and then either spray with water or dunk it in a cup of water to fast cool it. Be careful with melted plastic and use pliers to hold the nail when heating and placing it.
Mini can be drilled (~3mm for the ones I have) and glued or you can repeat the heat and melt method.
Bases are 25, 35, 45, 55mm diameter for the rounds, and the same dimensions as inscribed hexes for those.
