The stock cooling fan for the lower base on the Rostock Max V2 is pretty noisy. I think part of that is related to the grid pattern in the side panel that it is mounted on. I picked up quieter, larger [80mm fans](http://a.co/go3gMj6) and designed what I hope is a higher flow, quieter shroud that works with a replacement panel for mounting on the side of the printer.
I also wanted to have some fun with the potential to have even quieter exhaust while still maintaining good air flow. I saw another design that modeled a jet engine shroud and I recalled how some of the newer engines have a very cool looking [sawtooth pattern](http://aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/12832/why-does-the-boeing-787-engine-nacelle-exhaust-have-such-an-unusual-shape). I doubt this shroud design will contribute to quieter performance more than just running a quieter fan, but I think it looks cool.
I've also included a shroud to mount directly on an 80mm fan.
