I convert old engines into tables (sometimes working models as well) and sell them.
I'm currently converting a Rover 3.5 V8. To hold the glass, I've designed some stands in FreeCad. This stand when printed at 103% magnification in cura perfectly press fits into the rocker flange bolts. It creates a horizontal and flat surface where the glass can sit. I recommend at least 50% infill. Also, I would also place some rubber feet on top.
