My Educational Mechanical Examples Series This model is one of my educational mechanical mechanism examples on 80mm x 80mm base plates. You can find all models of the series in this collection => [Mechanical Mechanism Examples] The present model This model shows a scotch yoke mechanism that converts a rotational motion to a reciprocal motion. Brief Description A Scotch yoke mechanism converts continuous rotary motion into reciprocating linear motion using a groove-cam–like arrangement: a pin on the rotating member runs inside a slot on the slider, alternately pushing and pulling it. By shaping the slot appropriately, the slider’s displacement profile—and therefore its velocity as a function of crank angle—can be prescribed over one revolution. In this particular model, the slot is designed so that the slider moves at constant speed during both the forward and return strokes. You can verify this by rotating the knob and watching the tick marks on the slider: equal angular increments cor
