I had an old laptop lying around, and I made a server out of it. The upper part (the motherboard case) is made specifically for the mainboard of my old laptop (a cheap one from Medion). So, in case you want to modify it for your own mainboard layout, I included the cad files as well.
The lower part contains all the hard drives. It can handle up to 4 3.5Inch drives and 2 2.5 drives. The drives are powered by a standart ATX power supply.
The mainboard I used has two SATA connectors, one for the internal disk, one for the DVD drive. I used SATA extension cables as well as a mini PCI-E to Sata converter (https://www.amazon.com/NFHK-Express-Adapter-Converter-Extension/dp/B0C3C5YZWW) to connect all the hard drives. (I had to remove the WiFi card for that).
The larger parts did not fit on my print surface, so I used the built-in Dovetail feature of prusaslicer to split them.
Printed with honeycomb infill and no top / bottom layers.
Hardware:
Threaded Inserts, M3x10 screws, motherboard s
