The Shat Gombuj Mosque (Sixty Dome Mosque) is one of the largest and most impressive historical mosques in Bangladesh, located in Bagerhat, Khulna division. It was built in the 15th century by Khan Jahan Ali, a Turkish general and saint who founded the city of Bagerhat. The mosque is made of brick and is famous for its 77 domes (including 7 chauchala domes at the corners) even though it is popularly called the “Sixty Dome Mosque.” It has 60 stone pillars that support the roof, which is why it got its name. The structure reflects Tughlaq architectural style, with thick walls, massive columns, and multiple mihrabs.
